So… About me, huh? Well, I’m a very proud born and raised West Philadelphian who’s spent too much time away from West Philly… Currently, I’m doing my time in the suburbs of Chicago. I’m 27, but already an Empty Nester (long story!)… so that means that right now, I’m starting a whole new chapter in my life and it’s defiantly interesting.
I knit and crochet, this is important as it’s my sanity life line and the main focus on the blog. It’s not the only thing in my life, but it’s the only thing that I’m currently choosing to write about that both holds an interest to other people in the world as well as is something I don’t mind sharing. I think those are two very important criteria in a blog. I mean really, if I wanted to be a whinny person spilling all the most intimate details of my life online, in a public forum, with other people’s art and music as a means of “expressing” myself, I’d totally hang out on myspace… but I don’t so I won’t…
What else is good to know about me?
I’m a curious person so from time to time you’ll see things that I geek over such as making my own detergent, or something corny. I like reading, though I’m much more of a movie and television aficionado. I’m a sucker for anything that’s either really good, or really bad in a good way, genre be damned. Be it Rocky Horror, or Princess Bride, or Steel Magnolias, Kill Bill, or anything Bruce Willis for movies. Harry Potter, Twilight, everything Richelle Mead contrast nicely to my love of classics like Dickens and Wilde. I’m an Urkel fan from way back, but West Wing too, Family guy and Heroes, TV just has to entertain me. I think I have a kick ass eclectic take on music, yet my musician brother and husband tend to think my taste in music sucks. If you haven’t figured it out, I’m a bit of a contradiction all over the place, but that’s ok ‘cause I’m me!
I have an obsessive personality so you’ll see me get completely fixated on something, then on to something else. I’m also pretty passionate about stuff so I might have some posts here and there with my views and opinions on current events or random issues. Don’t get scared off by my fervor, my bark is worst than my bite. I may seem immovable, but I’m always willing to change my mind persuaded by a good counter argument and love debating with intelligent people who disagree with me, certainly a great deal more than listening to stupid people to agree with me. Fair warning though: I’m a unabashed independent Catholic feminist liberal (I said full of contradictions, keep up!). My skin crawls at the mention of something being a “girl thing” or a “guy thing”, so I beg you keep your gender stereotyping to yourself because if I don’t break those ignorant notions in someway, I have at least 30 other people I’m close to who do. To quote Angel from Rent “I’m more man than you’ll ever be and more woman than you’ll ever get”. I’ll actually ask that all bigotry and discrimination stay off because “Snow don’t play that!” and I’ll block crap like that so fast, heads will spin. Just be respectful, loving and open. Those are my rules.
I also love the rain and the cold, though I feel like I’m truly a solar-powered person, so if it could snow on days where the sun is out by 5am, I’d be one happy camper. My GodMother in CA likes to remind me that I come from warm weather people, my father from Brazil and my mother from LA (honestly tell me, who’s the real foreigner of that pair?), but I’m an East Coast Yank through and through.
So, I guess that’s all I can think of for now…
